QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited insinuation or two years of college preferred; Computer Technology Certification
  • One year of related experience in data entry, microcomputer support and Local Area Networking (LAN); experience with TCP/IP and IPX preferred
  • Knowledge of library science cataloging principles
  • Skills in meeting the public, a diverse community and district staff
  • Knowledgeable of desktop equipment including personal computers/laptops, scanners, peripherials, and cabeling
  • Knowledge of MARC21 and standard cataloging rules
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, personnel, vendors and manufactures in the field, over the telephone and in writing
  • Knowledge of district organization and administrative polices preferred

BASIC FUNCTIONS

  • Provide hardware and software support, virtually or face-to-face, for computer users in all district libraries
  • Maintain an accurate log of all data loads, computer related problems, etc. and provide reports as needed
  • Assist in planning for deployment of computer technologies in district libraries
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging computer and library technologies
  • Provide service for library computers; schedule and route service calls as needed to other areas
  • Assist librarians in appropriate reports
  • Help resolve issues with bibliographic utilities and other library catalogs for bibliographic records not in district catalog
  • Merge, delete, and supervise mass load and check-in records in district system
  • Assist with on-the-job training of data technicians and onsite and virtual computer instruction for district librarians
  • Discuss and give feedback to appropriate personnel on project(s) progress
  • Maintain Library Media inventory control over barcode scanners and software database for department and district libraries
  • Interface with the Technical Assistance Center regarding trouble tickets
  • Collaborate with director regarding library automation issues
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
