Salary & Benefits: In accordance with the Easton custodial bargaining unit contract

 

Schedule:   40 hours per week, 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..   Occasional overtime may be required.   

 

Essential Functions of Job

·         Submits bi-weekly payroll report on all school custodians to the principal's administrative assistant

·         Maintains accurate and timely accounts of attendance of custodial staff

·         Inspects school facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained and in an attractive and clean condition, and/or identifying necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, water conditions, etc.

·         Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly stock facilities

·         Prepares facility for daily operations as may be required (e.g., opening gates, raising flags, sweep/shovel/remove snow and sand walks, building access doors) for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operation and safe for occupancy

·         Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for the purpose of providing temperatures appropriate to the season and ensuring economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity

·         Responds to immediate safety and/or operations concerns (e.g., facility damage, injured and ill students, unauthorized persons, alarms) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment.

·         Distributes supplies and equipment (e.g., fill soap dispensers, towel-toilet paper dispensers, packages, furniture, TV/DVD/VCR carts) for the purpose of disseminating materials to appropriate parties

·         Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for

meetings, classroom activities and special events

·         Cleans assigned school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, corridors, carpets, removes graffiti, windows, restrooms, bleachers, stage locker rooms) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment

·         Repairs furniture and equipment as may be required (e.g., light bulbs, switches, unclogging drains, sinks, toilets) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition

·         Secures facilities and grounds (e.g., lock doors, turn off lights, take down flags) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to the district

·         Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities

 

Job Requirements

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Two years supervisory experience

·         Ability to utilize a computer for basic Microsoft applications

·         Ability to keep record of work orders, oil consumption, etc.

·         Ability to work well with a wide diversity of individuals, including adolescent students, parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, other custodians, and administrators

·         Must be respectful of others and keep an even temperament at all times

·         Ability to work under direct supervision using standardized procedures, providing information and/or advising others, and operating within a defined budget

·         Previous work experience in a school environment a plus

·         Ability to schedule activities, collate data and consider a number of factors when using equipment

·         Ability to utilize a variety of job-related equipment

·         Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities and problem solve

·         Must be able to maintain confidentiality

·         Must have good communication skills, both orally and in writing

·         Respond within 24 hours to all electronic communications regarding building maintenance

·         Finalist will be required to pass a Fitness for Duty physical examination before being hired

 

Working Environment

Performing the job's functions requires the following physical demands:   significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 70% walking, and 25% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
