Kindergarten Aide - Striving Reader Grant
FUNCTION
Performs routine work in the supervision of students on the playground, in the cafeteria, or in the classroom while ensuring the safety of the students under supervision.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Site Administrator. The Site Administrator will at least annually evaluate the Aide’s performance.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise students on the playground, in the cafeteria, or indoors during inclement weather.
Ensure safety of students under supervision.
Effectively manage students under supervision including the enforcement of school rules and district policies and issue citations where required.
Assist students in resolving conflicts.
Supervise the arrival and departure of students using bus transportation as assigned.
Assist with clerical duties related to the classroom environment such as photocopying, stocking and inventory of materials, laminating, etc.
Assist with instruction given by classroom teachers.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK CONTACTS
Frequent contact with students, teachers, and other district personnel.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Light to moderate physical activity normally associated with a school site.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The ability to perform the following work activities with or without reasonable accommodations:

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Some experience in the supervision of youth and high school graduation or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work and; 48 semester
hours from an accredited college; or, an associate’s degree in early childhood
or related field; or, successfully pass the Para-professional PRAXIS exam
developed by Educational Testing Services.
