This position is a temporary contracted position through May 18th, 2010.  The position offers teacher salary wages and all associated benefits except retirement.

Qualifications:
Education: Valid Alaska teaching certificate with an ESL or Bilingual/Multicultural endorsement
required. A valid Alaska teaching certificate with a language-related endorsement and a TESOL
certificate may be considered in lieu of an ESL or Bilingual/Multicultural endorsement. Masters
degree in Education with an emphasis in applied linguistics or cross-cultural education preferred

Experience: Experience developing and delivering English language development training to
teachers using a peer-coaching model preferred. Experience with linguistically and ethnically
diverse students and community groups required. Experience working with Alaska Native ELL
students preferred. Experience implementing SIOP (or equivalent) strategies required.

Knowledge: Training in Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocal (SIOP) or equivalent
research based language development framework required. Understanding of or experience
with Response To Intervention/Instruction preferred.

Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers required.

Skills: English language proficiency adequate to administer and score all domains included in
English language proficiency assessments (i.e., reading, writing, speaking and listening
sections) required. Proficiency in a language other than English preferred.
