Health Occupations Instructor

Candidate Information

 

The Position

BACC is searching for a Health Occupations/CNA instructor whose responsibilities include the instruction of high school students in our Health Occupations program.  Students in the program are able to obtain their CNA certification after their first year in the program.  Lecture and clinical supervision will be included in the responsibilities of this position. Qualified candidates must be a registered nurse with a minimum of two years nursing experience.  Qualified candidates also must have at least one year of experience as a registered nurse, caring for the elderly or the chronically ill of any age through employment in a nursing facility (long-term care), extended-care unit, geriatric  department, chronic care unit, hospice, swing bed unit of a hospital, home health or other long-term care setting. Qualified candidates must have or be able to obtain a teaching certificate from the State of Illinois and be able to meet certification requirements as outlined by the State of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

 

Bloomington Area Career Center

Students from 15 participating districts can chose from 13 different career interests and programs at Bloomington Area Career Center.  Over 400 juniors and seniors that attend BACC receive education in the core academic subjects at their home school and typically spend two periods per day at BACC.  Through instructors, coordinators, support staff, and administrators, students are exposed to careers, technical skills, workplace skills and integrated academic skills in their BACC courses.  Students are also exposed to technology with the availability of computer labs and workstations throughout the BACC.  About 75 percent of our students continue their education upon graduation.

 

BACC is located on the campus of Bloomington High School, part of Bloomington District 87.  BACC is governed by a board made up of superintendents from participating districts.
