POSITION GOAL:
The Director of
Athletics/Activity Director/PE /Dr. Ed Divisional
Coordinates and
supervises the inter-scholastic athletic programs and
Student Activities
to provide
students with the best possible opportunities and
experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Illinois Administrative Certification (type #75
required with General Administrative and PE/Driver
Education).
2.
Ability to communicate, make decisions, and get along
with staff, students, parents and public.
3.
Three or more years successful teaching and/or
administrative experience.
4.
Able to work within the annual budget provided to the
high school for athletic programs by the Board of
Education.
KEY ACCOUNTABLITIES:
1.
Develop, organize, and administer a master schedule of
athletic events to ensure wholesome inter-scholastic
competition between I.H.S.A. member schools.
2.
Develop, coordinate, and direct all student
activities.
3.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, staff,
and community to develop and maintain a positive
school-community relationship.
4.
Evaluate the performance of the athletic coaching staff
to comply with District and State provisions.
5.
Ensure safety in athletic areas by supervising the
maintenance and repair of facilities.
6.
Develop and administer athletic budget to ensure
compliance with District fiscal guidelines.
7.
Maintain records of athletes as it pertains to physical
examinations, insurance, and scholastic eligibility to
ensure compliance with the District and State
guidelines.
8.
Develop and maintain a Coach/Sponsor Handbook that
communicates all expectations, guidelines, procedures
for coaches and sponsors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Interview and recommend prospective candidates for
employment.
2.
Supervise/evaluate coaches/sponsors and the development
of programs.
3.
Assumes responsibility for equipment maintenance and
repair, inventorying and ordering of necessary coaching
supplies and equipment.
4.
Coordinate fundraising activities of the Athletic
Department.
5.
Supervise the Assistant Athletic Directors, Athletic
Secretary, and Ticket Manager.
6.
Serve as the liaison and facilitator to the High School
Booster Club and work closely with the officers.
7.
Supervise the sponsor(s) of the Cheerleaders and
Pom-Poms squads.
8.
Work with the Athletic Trainer in rehabilitation and
preventing injuries.
9.
Organize and coordinate all athletic contests.
10.
Serve as PE/Dr. Education Divisional.
11.
Evaluate certified staff in PE and Driver education as
needed.
12.
Build a master schedule for PE and Driver
Education.
13.
Teach one class per semester as assigned by the
Building Principal.
14.
Other duties as outlined and assigned by Building
Principal.
