Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Elementary Education (1-8) (Level 1), Elementary Education (1-8) (Level 2), Elementary Education (1-8) (Level 3), Elementary Education (1-8) (ARL), Elementary Education (K-6) (Level 1), Elementary Education (K-6) (Level 2), Elementary Education (K-6) (Level 3), Elementary Education (K-6) (ARL).
The license position area must be in Elementary Teacher.
The license must be in one of the following grades: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct students individually and in groups, using teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
Provides learning experiences and teaches the standard course of study prescribed by the school approved curriculum.
Develops and uses instructional material suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students.
Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs.
Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
Administer standardized ability and achievement tests, and interpret results to determine student strengths and needs.
Use technology to supplement learning.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students.
Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records.
Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school policies, goals and objectives.
Communicates with parents through a variety of means and holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student progress.
Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning problems.
Maintains confidentiality of all information for the purpose of protection of students, staff, parents and district.
Monitors student activities (e.g. classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students.
Prepares teaching materials and related reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress.
Directs paraprofessionals, volunteers, and/or student aides etc. for the purpose of maximizing their efficiency and meeting work requirements, providing an effective school program, and addressing the needs of individual students.
Provides proper care, management, and reasonable security for all school property in their custody (e.g. equipment, supplies, classroom, facilities, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining inventories, preventing damage and/or theft.
Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Utah State Code, administrative and/or school policies.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations.
