Job Summary:

The Technology Support Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing computers, computer peripherals and classroom technologies. Collaborating with other district technology support personnel, the Technology Support Technician provides direct user support to resolve problems, supports the technology hardware lifecycle and ensures correct operation of the district's technology systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs the installation and configuration of computers and peripheral equipment such as printers, scanners, projectors and similar Classroom technologies
  • Perform audits and tests on computers, networks, and peripheral equipment to ensure they are functioning properly
  • Works with other support personnel to replace failed components and devices
  • Responds to end-user support requests via the help desk system escalating requests as necessary to the appropriate support areas to meet the established service level agreements
  • Attempts to replicate reported end user technical problems and identifies solutions
  • Travels to district buildings providing direct end user technical assistance and support for issues related to the district's computers, software and peripheral equipment
  • Provides basic end user training on common software and hardware issues
  • Works with external vendors as necessary to facilitate the maintenance and repair of computers and peripheral equipment
  • Works collaboratively with peers and other district staff to ensure all software and hardware is up-to-date and updates are installed as required
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance to avoid system outages and failures
  • Maintains technical documentation for colleagues to reference
  • Maintains an equipment and parts inventory along with logging all service/repair activity
  • Ensures data confidentiality and security is maintained in handling sensitive documents and information
  • Maintains a current level of required technical knowledge to perform in a fast-changing environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows operating system and related software
  • Proficient in computer deployment, repair, and decommissioning including Windows, MacOS, iOS and Chromebook devices
  • Proficient in the support and maintenance of classroom instructional technologies including projectors, smartboards, sound amplification and similar

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in a relevant field is required
  • Minimum two years related professional experience required
  • CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ certifications strongly desired

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to bend, crouch, crawl, walk and climb stairs as required
  • Must have a valid driver license and the ability to operate district owned motor vehicles

Compensation:

  • Entry Rate: Grade 13 at $25.23 with benefits
  • Full-time, Non-Union position
