Description

General Definition:

The Coordinator assists the Director of Secondary Education and site principals in strategic planning and re-design of the district’s CTE system. The Coordinator will research, coordinate and evaluate the transition process to an aligned Career Academy Model in the district.  The transition will include administering, monitoring and implementing research based quality program requirements and applicable grant requirements for same. This position provides leadership and support for administrators, instructional staff, and community members in assuring that appropriate Academy Model curriculum and instructional practices, Next Step Planning, and other CCR initiatives are occurring in all secondary buildings. The Coordinator will facilitate meetings, PLCs, industry/agency partnership meetings, and other events to accomplish this goal that will lead to higher graduation rates, more aligned dual credit opportunities, relevant work-based learning experiences, relevant stackable credentials and higher levels of academic and skill achievement.
 

Employment Term:

222 Day Contract
 

Salary:

Appropriate placement on the salary schedule

Qualification Requirements:

 
Education and Experience
  • A minimum of five years secondary teaching or counseling experience required.
  • Masters Degree in Education, Counseling or related field from accredited college or university.
  • A strong background in career technical education frameworks.
  • Background in Career Academy Model experience preferred.
 
Certificates and Licenses
Current valid New Mexico secondary teaching or counseling license. Administrative license preferred. 
 
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Possess in depth understanding of services and career technical education principles and processes.
  • Must possess excellent assessment, data analysis, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community, staff, and outside agencies such as workforce development boards or public education departments.

  • Must possess the following skill-based competencies to satisfactorily perform the function of the position: analyzing; effective listening; facilitating meetings; guiding others; managing projects/programs; monitoring activities; planning; problem solving; and supervision.
