Parma City Schools is looking for a Substitute Guidance Counselor (Valley Forge High School).
Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) is proud to support Parma City Schools in the employment of substitute educators. Substitutes play an important role in education by stepping in to make sure that quality education and school policy and procedures continue in the absence of the assigned staff.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- The ability to provide counseling to help students with academics, career planning and social-emotional development
- Design and implement the school counseling program in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines, Operating Standards for Ohio Schools, and the provisions of State and Federal law.
- Collect, analyze, present, and utilize data from a variety of sources to improve student learning and decision-making.
- Provide individual and small group counseling to promote student learning and career and personal social development.
- Conduct large group and classroom guidance sessions focusing on study skills, learning strategies, conflict resolution, and career and educational planning.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community to promote a positive school climate.
- Engage parents and community members in the educational process and in the support of student.
Requirements
- Criminal record check: Applicants must have a clean criminal record that allows for public school employment, verified through FBI and BCI background checks dated within 365 days of hire.
- Bachelor's Degree: Hold at least a Bachelor's Degree.
- Professional references: Provide three professional references.
- License: Must hold current licensure as required by the Ohio Department of Education
- Training: Complete SubSkills Online training (if applicable contingent after hire) and submit all mandatory professional development modules and activities using PublicSchoolWorks as a platform.
- Effective communication: Communicate accurately and effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Punctuality: Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.
- Professional conduct: Adhere to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
