Description

Salary:                                         
 $16.65 per hour - commensurate with experience. 
  
Terms/Benefits:
2024-2025 School Year
7.5 hours per day / 10 months per year

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 2 years experience working with children or adolescents in a clinical setting.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Certification in a health related field preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Understanding of administrative practices.
Ability to efficiently complete clerical tasks.
Willingness to attend required certification trainings and continuing education opportunities to maintain proficient technical skills and continued professional growth.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
Skills in time management.
Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides basic first aid and comfort care for minor injuries and illnesses consistent with level of training.
Maintains a written daily log of student health office visits, documenting the student’s name, time of visit, reason for visit, observed symptoms, action taken, and dispensation.
Contacts parent/guardian regarding current illness or injury.
Administers medications and special procedures to students.
Maintains and updates electronic and hard copy student health records.
Identifies students with known health problems, consults with parents/guardians, registered nurse and/or other health professionals as needed regarding student’s care during school hours and informs appropriate school staff members.
Consults with principal or registered nurse regarding a serious injury or incident.
Completes students and employee accident reports and health insurance forms.
Coordinates and conducts student health screenings including hearing and vision screenings and other student health screenings such as height, weight and blood pressure.
Notifies parents/guardians of a student’s non-compliance with immunization law and, after notification to the principal, excludes students who fail to comply according to Health Department dictated procedure.
Completes and files immunization reports with the State as required by law.
Compiles statistical data for State reports as directed.
Reports suspected communicable diseases to County Health Department in accordance with State law and monitors student exclusion from and re-entry to school.
Orders, maintains and organizes essential office supplies and equipment; assures accurate functioning and appropriate care of equipment.
Coordinates and facilitates other student health related services such as on-site dental care and prevention programs as directed.
Assists with front office responsibilities.

General Information:
Provides basic school health services to students and staff and maintains health related records under the direction of the school administrator, with orientation, consultation, and periodic review provided by a registered nurse.
