Educational Associate - Security Monitor

POSITION:	Security Monitor Paraprofessional
LOCATION:	South View Middle School
DAILY SCHEDULE:	8:30-4:30 pm Monday-Friday
DAYS PER YEAR:	170 (9 month position)
SUMMARY:	Security monitors play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Responsibilities include:

• monitoring school premises,
• supervising students during arrival, dismissal, passing times, and lunch (as well as traffic directing duties before and after school)
• enforcing school policies,
• and responding to any security incidents or emergencies.

RATE OF PAY:            The wage for this position ranges from $22.20 to $26.20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates will start at the entry-level rate of $22.20 per hour. However, candidates with prior work experience in a related field may be eligible for a starting rate of up to $23.00 per hour. For those with direct experience in this specific role, the starting rate may exceed $23.00 per hour, depending on their qualifications and experience. These decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, in consideration of the individual’s experience and the school district’s budget. An Associate's Degree or at least two years of post-secondary education (a minimum of 60 semester credits) is required. Experience working with students, working with diverse student populations, and strong communication skills is preferred. Previous experience in security or law enforcement is helpful but not required.
