Function
The Classroom Teacher (Homebound/Hospital) provides instructional services to students who are unable to attend school because of illness, injury or severe emotional difficulty. Coordinates the student's instruction and course of study as much as possible with the activities and lessons occurring in the regular classroom as determined appropriate by the supervisor and Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.

Reponsibilities:
Instructional Management

Plans with the appropriate school staff in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for the students.

Evaluates, selects, develops, and/or adapts materials to meet the specific needs of students.

Writes daily lesson plans for each student in accordance with the student’s prescribed educational needs.

Reports students' progress to administrators, parents, and other staff members when needed.

Facilitates communication between the parents and school personnel better assist the students with their courses and assignment.

Attends regularly scheduled staff, ARD Committee meetings, and required inservice programs.

Maintains a professional, knowledgeable relationship with students, parents, hospital, and other school district staff members.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to work with severe behavior problems

Be in good health without a high susceptibility to contacting infection from students.
