E.O. Smith High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and thoughtful individual who can contribute to our school’s diversity through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service to the institution.
The World Language Department is comprised of 9 full-time teaching staff. The new German language teacher will work with a team of professionals to provide pathways to students to learn a new language and understand other cultures. Ultimately, the teacher will work collaboratively to prepare students who take responsibility, think critically, are well informed, and active global citizens .
QUALIFICATIONS:
SALARY: In accordance with the agreement between the Region 19 Board of Education and the Region 19 Teachers’ Association. 2024-2025 salary range is $51756-102964 PRO-RATED.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Native or near native speaker of German; preferably with or eligible for Connecticut certificate: (019), 7-12.
- Possess qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with all stakeholders.
- Experience or demonstrated understanding of providing culturally relevant instruction is preferred.
- Develop and deliver student centered lessons.
- Afford students diverse learning modes and opportunities to achieve mastery.
- Assess students regularly to provide timely and relevant feedback and support.
- Elicit parent and guardian collaboration to understand student’s learning needs.
- Collaborate with school counselors to develop and implement appropriate behavior management plans and interventions.
- Utilize student data effectively to plan student remediation, acceleration, and intervention.
