Description

Methacton School District is looking for a Network Manager.  This position is a full-time, in-person, position.                                                

Compensation$95,000.00 - $115,000.00 - commensurate with experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Technology, the Network Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, security, monitoring, and lifecycle management of the district's network and core infrastructure systems. This position serves as the district's technical lead for network and core infrastructure systems and ensures secure, reliable, and scalable technology operations district-wide.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise network and server infrastructure administration
  • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), and Wide Area Networks (WAN) in a multi-site environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing Cisco enterprise switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure
  • Experience managing virtualization platforms and on-premises server infrastructure
  • Experience administering directory services, DNS, DHCP, authentication systems, and access control practices
  • Experience managing firewalls, network security systems, and secure configuration standards
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles related to network and server infrastructure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Current Act 34, Act 151 and FBI Fingerprint clearances

Preferred

  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise network and server infrastructure administration
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent professional networking certification
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, VMware, Microsoft, or equivalent professional certifications
  • Experience in a K-12 educational environment
  • Experience coordinating infrastructure projects and vendor services
  • Experience with E-Rate documentation and compliance

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: List the responsibilities of the job.

  1. Design, implement, maintain, and evaluate the district Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), wireless networks, and related infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable operations.
  2. Establish, document, and enforce network architecture standards, configuration standards, and infrastructure best practices.
  3. Configure, manage, and maintain network infrastructure equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, filtering systems, and related network appliances.
  4. Monitor network performance including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues in a timely and effective manner.
  5. Develop, implement, and maintain network security practices including segmentation, access controls, firewall policies, and secure configuration standards.
  6. Lead infrastructure related cybersecurity efforts including vulnerability remediation, secure configuration management, log review, and coordination during security incidents.
  7. Monitor network systems and respond to outages or degradation of service. Communicate status updates to the Director of Technology and affected stakeholders and develop corrective action plans as needed.
  8. Maintain configuration backups and disaster recovery documentation for network infrastructure.
  9. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to support business continuity of instructional and operational systems.
  10. Develop and maintain long range infrastructure lifecycle plans aligned with district goals.
  11. Evaluate emerging technologies and provide budget projections and technical recommendations for infrastructure investments.
  12. Install, configure, test, and document network infrastructure hardware and software upgrades.
  13. Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventories, and technical documentation of all infrastructure systems.
  14. Establish and follow documented change management procedures for infrastructure systems, including recording and tracking configuration changes.
  15. Manage and maintain core infrastructure services including directory services, DNS, DHCP, authentication systems, and related server platforms, ensuring secure and appropriate access to district technology resources.
  16. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for installation, support, warranty service, and contracted network services. Lead infrastructure projects involving external partners and monitor service level agreements.
  17. Provide regular reports to the Director of Technology regarding infrastructure performance, risks, lifecycle status, and improvement initiatives.
  18. Participate in E-Rate eligible infrastructure planning, documentation, and compliance as assigned.
  19. Respond to network related emergencies outside of normal working hours as required.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology.
