Technology Operations Specialist

Twelve-Month Position

Hanover Township Public Schools is seeking a skilled, collaborative, and hands-on Technology Operations Specialist to support district-wide technology, data, and infrastructure operations across four schools serving approximately 1,300 students and more than 200 staff members. Reporting to the Director of Technology, this position serves as the primary deputy to the Director and provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support while helping ensure reliable, secure, and effective technology services throughout the district.

Primary Responsibilities

• Co-lead Genesis Student Information System operations, data integrity, scheduling support, reporting, and NJ SLEDS/NJSMART state submissions.
• Own district Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support and triage help desk requests across all four schools.
• Coach building Ed-Tech Specialists on troubleshooting, technical practices, ticket quality, documentation, and service consistency.
• Manage Chromebook, iPad, and Mac device management, deployment, inventory, and repair operations.
• Perform hands-on Chromebook repairs, including screens, keyboards, batteries, hinges, and other components.
• Support district network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, servers, storage, backups, and phone systems.
• Operate patch management, security update, identity review, access audit, and cybersecurity workflows.
• Manage integrations between Genesis, Clever, identity providers, productivity platforms, instructional applications, finance, HR, and assessment systems.
• Lead and support district technology projects, including network upgrades, device deployments, security initiatives, phone systems, and systems migrations.
• Oversee the technical operation, recording, livestreaming, and publication of monthly Board of Education meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of two years of professional technology experience in K-12, higher education, or a comparable enterprise IT environment. Three to five years preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with a major Student Information System. Genesis experience preferred.
• Hands-on hardware repair experience, including Chromebook component-level repair.
• Experience administering a mobile device management platform such as Google Admin Console, Apple School Manager, Jamf, Mosyle, Hexnode, or a comparable platform.
• Working knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including VLANs, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, and firewall policy.
• Experience administering Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft 365.
• Experience with patch management and security update workflows.
• A/V experience including livestreaming, recording, and event support.
• Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation between district buildings.
• New Jersey Criminal History Review Unit clearance prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Genesis SIS administrator training.
• Direct experience with NJ SLEDS/NJSMART or other New Jersey state data submissions.
• Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi networking and enterprise firewall platforms.
• Experience with Incident IQ or a comparable help desk and asset management platform.
• Experience with Clever, ClassLink, or another identity and rostering platform.
• Prior experience supporting public meetings, livestreams, or other live event environments.
• Familiarity with the New Jersey Student Data Privacy Act, FERPA, and COPPA.
• Prior experience working with the New Jersey Department of Education or a New Jersey public school district.

Work Year: Twelve months, 7.5 hours per day. One scheduled evening per month for Board of Education meeting coverage, typically 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Occasional additional after-hours and weekend coverage is required for major project work, network maintenance, and emergencies.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Salary range $65,000.00 to $75,000.00.
