COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

Probationary Appointment – 12 Month position

Work Schedule: 

7:30am – 4:00pm

Description of Duties:
• Maintain hardware and peripheral equipment, including PC's Macs, Apples, network hardware and cabling
• Install and configure hardware/software as per department requirements
• Maintain accurate inventory records on equipment
• Designs network cables plans for network installations and/or modifications
• Explains revisions in software packages
• Diagnoses and repairs problems associated with hardware, software and/or network
• Develops and implements schedules to provide preventative maintenance
• Cleans and inspects equipment
• Analyzes potential problems and takes corrective action
• Serves as a resource and troubleshooter to departmental personnel
• Has strong interpersonal skills and works well with others.
 

Requirements:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in computer science, micro-computer technology, computer information systems, information technology or related field or

Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two year college with an Associate's degree in computer science, micro-computer technology, computer information systems, information technology, or related field and two (2) years of paid experience in computer operations, technical support or systems development, including installation and maintenance of computer software and hardware or

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of above listed experience or

An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of "A", "B", and "C" above.
