Description
Position Title: Elementary School Teacher
Location: Southampton County Public Schools
Reports To: Principal
Job Summary: Southampton County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary School Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment that fosters the intellectual and social development of students. The teacher will plan, implement, and assess lessons to ensure that all students meet academic standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and instructional resources to meet students' diverse learning needs.
- Integrate technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences.
Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and positive behavior.
- Address and resolve conflicts and behavioral issues in a constructive manner.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess students' academic progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
- Use assessment data to guide instructional decisions and interventions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student learning and well-being.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and school activities.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as required.
- Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching license or certification in Elementary Education.
- Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of child development and best practices in elementary education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with students in a positive manner.
- Proficiency in the use of technology for instructional purposes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and move freely for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift and move educational materials and supplies as necessary.
- Ability to supervise and interact with students both indoors and outdoors.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a classroom setting.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for school events and meetings.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
