POSITION RESPONSIBILITY
To provide safe and efficient transportation so students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program. Must be able to perform the nature of the position without loss of efficiency or composure. Bus Drivers report directly to the Transportation Supervisor and to School Level Administrators when dealing with student discipline.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Maintain a Class B Commercial Drivers License with “P” and “S” endorsements.
Pass yearly Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical and maintain current DOT medical card.
Background with and drug screening are required per MCBOE Policy 5.106 and MCBOE Policy 5.403.
Annual “S” endorsement training to maintain “S” endorsement certification.
DUTIES
Responsible for bringing the bus to the bus garage for servicing twice a month.
Keep bus clean by washing outside a minimum of once a month with weekly cleaning on inside of bus.
Preform daily pre-trip inspections
Driver must adhere to all traffic laws and observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
Transports ONLY authorized students
Shall not use profanity or tobacco in any form when students are being transported.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Drivers must meet and pass the annual physical requirements per the Department of Transportation and maintain a current DOT medical card.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Operate school bus; two-way radio; global positioning system (GPS); safety equipment including but not limited to flares, reflective signs, and fire extinguisher
Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and twisting; occasional kneeling/squatting, bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling
Motion: Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reaching
Lifting: Limited light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) on a daily basis
Environment: Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle fumes; work around moving vehicles; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work prolonged hours
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must work a maximum of 185 days per school year. Salary Schedules will be established by the McMinn County Board of Education annually. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with policies set forth by the McMinn County Board of Education.
