San Juan School District
San Juan School District
Description
SJSD, geographically one of the largest school districts in the US, is surrounded by world renowned attractions such as Lake Powell, Canyonlands National Park and Monument Valley. The district's 12 schools located in 8 separate communities are spread throughout the vast geographical area which makes up the district. The district contains all of the Utah portion of the Navajo Nation as well as a portion of the Ute tribal lands. While the geographic location of the district isolates it from some activities found in urban areas, the cultural and scenic diversity available more than compensates those who prefer the slower pace of a rural lifestyle.
Mission Statement
The mission of the San Juan School District is to unite parents, students, educators, and communities to enable all students to become empowered, literate, well-adjusted, and productive citizens.
